NOTICE TO GENERAL CONTRACTORS

INVITATION TO BID

Proposals are requested from qualified General Contractors by the Florida Department of Children and families, hereinafter referred to as Owner, for the construction of:

PREQUALIFICATION: The Owner accepts bids from those contractors who demonstrate current licensed status with the Department of Business and Professional Regulations. The Instructions to Bidders “Bidder Qualification Requirements and Procedures” are included in the specifications under Article B-2.

PERFORMANCE BOND AND LABOR AND MATERIAL BOND: A performance bond and labor and material payment bond are required.

DATE AND TIME: Sealed bids will be received at North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center, Administrative Building, 2nd Floor, Classroom III, 1200 N. E. 55th Boulevard, Gainesville, Florida, on December 20, 2006, until 2:00 p.m. (local time), at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.

MANDATORY PRE-BID INSPECTION: We will conduct a mandatory prebid inspection with the architect at the project site on December 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. (EST) for all interested contractors.

PROPOSAL: Bids must be submitted in full accordance with the requirements of the drawings, specifications, bidding conditions and contractual conditions, and with a copy of the contractor’s license. The contract documents may be examined and obtained from the Architect/Engineer:

CONTRACT AWARD: The bid tabulation and Notice of Award Recommendation will be posted at 3:00 p.m. (local time), on December 21, 2006, at the architect’s office. In the event that the bid tabulation and Notice of Award Recommendation cannot be posted in this manner, then all bidders will be notified by Certified United States mail, Return Receipt requested. Any protests of the bid must be made within 72 hours of posting of the results. “Failure to file a protest within the time prescribed in Section 120.53(5), Florida Statutes, shall constitute a waiver of proceedings under Chapter 120, Florida Statutes.” If no protest is filed per Section B-21 of the Instructions to Bidders, “Notice and Protest Procedures”, the contract will be awarded to the qualified, responsive low bidder by the Owner.
