NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
DISASTER RELIEF FUNDING
The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announces the opening of a public comment period and the publication of the proposed 2005 Disaster Recovery Initiative Action Plan related to funds provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development through Docket No. FR-5051-N-0, Federal Register / Vol. 71, No. 29; Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2006.
PURPOSE: To receive comments on the Action Plan for supplemental Community Development Block Grant disaster relief funding made available to the State of
PLAN SUMMARY: Congress allocated the funding for the purpose of assisting in the recovery from the federally declared disasters related to Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita as described in the disaster declarations mentioned in the Federal Register. Funds are for “disaster relief, long-term recovery and restoration of infrastructure in the most impacted and distressed areas related to the consequences of the hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico in 2005” as stated in the federal notice. Cities and counties, entitlement and non-entitlement, as well as federally recognized Indian Tribes, are eligible to apply for assistance. Applicants must document and certify that there is no other funding available to address the need. The State of
