Inmate Telephone Use

PURPOSE:

Currently, inmates are only permitted to make collect calls to pre-approved, personal landline phones. The purpose and effect of the proposed rulemaking is to permit inmates to also make collect telephone calls to pre-approved, personal cell phones upon establishment of a payment account for such calls.

SUMMARY:

The rule is amended to permit inmates to make collect calls to personal cell phones, to allow inmate family/friends to establish payment accounts for cell phone calls, and to permit the temporary deactivation of telephone accounts under limited circumstances.
