Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	December 1, 2014, 5:00 p.m., open house, 6:00 p.m. formal hearing

PLACE:	Lakeside Lutheran Church, Meyer Hall, 2401 S. Tamiami Trail in Venice, Florida, 34293

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public hearing about the median modifications project on US 41 (SR 45) at S. Venice Boulevard and Baffin Drive. The full median opening at Baffin Drive had 26 accidents with 15 injuries January 2009 to December 2013. The median will be modified to a directional median opening which eliminates left turns onto US 41 from E. Baffin Drive/W. Baffin Road. Left turns and U-turns from US 41 are permitted. South Venice Boulevard had nine accidents with five injuries from January 2009 to December 2013. To reduce crashes at this intersection, FDOT will eliminate the existing northbound to westbound left turn lane.
