Training Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies Investigating a Sudden Unexpected Infant Death

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this proposed new rule chapter is to implement rules consistent with Section 383.3362(3)(c), Florida Statutes, which is to establish training standards for first responders to a Sudden Unexpected Infant Death related to investigating such cases and to be able to appropriately respond to parents and caretakers who have requested assistance.

SUMMARY:

The rule defines first responders, requires that they receive training in the investigation of Sudden Unexplained Infant Deaths, and incorporates a Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigation Curriculum Guide for the training of first responders.
