RULE:

65C-30.020

Child Fatalities

PURPOSE:

Section 39.2015, F.S., requires the Department to provide an immediate multiagency investigation of certain child deaths.  The Department intends to amend Rule 65C-30.020, F.A.C, Child Fatalities, to clarify the notification requirements upon learning of a child’s death.

SUMMARY:

The amendments require (1) The case manager to orally notify the community-based care executive officer through his or her chain of command immediately upon learning of the death of a child under supervision; (2) The community-based care executive officer to orally notify various parties immediately upon learning of the death of a child under supervision; and (3) Written notice of the death within 24 hours of the death.
