Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Tuesday, September 26, 2017, open house begins at 5 p.m., formal presentation at 6 p.m.

PLACE:	HighPoint Church, 501 Burns Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a design change reevaluation public hearing for proposed improvements to the US 27 at State Road (SR) 60 Interchange in Polk County. All members of the public are invited to attend. FDOT will hold a design change reevaluation public hearing to discuss proposed improvements to the US 27 at SR 60 Interchange. These improvements include widening SR 60 and US 27 from four to six lanes within the project limits, reconstructing the existing SR 60 cloverleaf interchange to a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) and constructing a new bridge over US 27. FDOT will construct a frontage road in the southwest quadrant of the interchange to aid with access to local businesses. Additional right-of-way is required for the frontage road and the interchange improvements. The hearing begins with an open house at 5 p.m. and follows with a formal presentation and public comment period at 6 p.m. People attending the hearing can review project displays and speak one-on-one with project team members. Written statements or exhibits submitted at the hearing, emailed, or mailed and postmarked by October 6, 2017 will become part of the official hearing transcript. The department sent notices to all property owners located within at least 300 feet on either side of the SR 27 project limits, as well as other interested parties. Project information is available for public viewing from September 5, 2017 to October 6, 2017 at two locations. One is the Lake Wales Public Library, 290 Cypress Garden Lane, in Lake Wales, Florida. Contact the library at 863-678-4004 for hours of operation. The other is the FDOT District One Headquarters, 801 North Broadway Avenue, Bartow, Florida. Contact FDOT project manager, David C. Please note that in case of a hurricane on September 26, the alternative date for the hearing is Thursday, October 5, 2017. If held on this date, the location will be the James P. Austin Community Center, 315 Dr. M.L.K. Jr Boulevard, Lake Wales, Florida 33853. The new closing date for the comment period would be October 16, 2017, and documents will remain on display until that date. All other hearing information, including the hearing time and schedule, still apply. The hearing is developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
