Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.

PLACE:	Tavares Civic Center, 100 East Caroline Street, Tavares, FL 32778

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting a public hearing for the State Road (S.R.) 500A/U.S. 441 intersection located southeast of Lake Eustis and near the Sheriff Chris Daniels Memorial Fountain in Tavares. This design project is focusing on the traffic turning left from S.R. 500A to westbound U.S 441 by realigning the northbound S.R. 500A travel lanes and by adding a second dedicated left turn lane. A raised median will be added to separate these left turn lanes from the southbound lanes on S.R. 500A. A pavement treatment (known as High Friction Surface Treatment) will be added in the intersection to increase surface tension for motorists, especially during wet weather. Along the east side of S.R. 500A, the sidewalk will be extended along the east side of S.R. 500A to North Duncan Drive (S.R. 19). The Department is offering two ways for the community to participate in the hearing. Interested persons may join the Virtual Public Hearing (VPH) from a computer, tablet, or cell phone. Or, they may participate in person by going to the Tavares Civic Center at 100 East Caroline Street, Tavares, Florida 32778. All participants, regardless of the platform they choose, will participate in the same live hearing. A VPH is a free live presentation or webinar over the internet. If you wish to participate in the VPH online, registration is required in advance by going to the website: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4838158335895532812. At this time, Internet Explorer is not supported by GoToWebinar and the link for the hearing will not work on this platform. Please use an alternate web browser to register and attend the hearing. Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the VPH online. For participants who are unable to view the webinar, they can listen to the meeting by calling: 1-866-952-8437 and then entering the passcode 756-439-873 when prompted. For those who choose to participate in person, the Department requests advance registration to ensure all attendees are accommodated safely and according to current social distancing guidelines. Attendees who are not feeling well should not attend the in-person meeting. The VPH and in-person hearing location will open at 5:30 p.m. A presentation will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by a formal public comment period. If joining online, please provide adequate log-in time to view the presentation in its entirety. All hearing materials, including the presentation, will be available on the project website at www.cflroads.com/project/443507-1. FDOT is sending notices to all property owners, business owners, interested persons and organizations to provide the opportunity to give comments to FDOT regarding the S.R. 500A/U.S. 441 intersection safety improvements design project. The hearing gives everyone an opportunity to express their views about the proposed modifications. While comments about the project are accepted at any time, all comments received through November 19, 2020 will be included in the records for the public hearing. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
