Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation, District 1, announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	May 6, 2021. The hearing will begin with an open house at 5:30 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 6 p.m.

PLACE:	Online via GoToWebinar or in person at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation District One invites the public to a hearing on May 6, 2021. The Public Hearing is about proposed safety improvements on US 41 in Punta Gorda, Charlotte County (Financial Project Identification Number 444485-1). The project limits begin south of Payne Street and continue north past Rio Villa Drive. The hearing will present information and collect input on the project design. This Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (RRR) project will resurface the roadway and enhance bicyclist and pedestrian safety. Pedestrian features will be upgraded to be compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, and additional features will be upgraded or modified. Proposed access management changes include closing some full median openings and converting others to directional openings. A list of proposed median changes is available on the project webpage (www.swflroads.com/us41/paynetoriovilla) under “About the Project.” A 5:30 p.m. Open House will present an opportunity for in-person attendees to view project exhibits and speak with FDOT staff. During that time remote attendees may view project exhibits on the www.SWFLRoads.com/US41/PaynetoRioVilla webpage and may log into GoToWebinar or dial into the meeting audio. A formal presentation will begin promptly at 6 p.m. for all attendees, followed by a formal public comment period. Participate in person at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center (75 Taylor Street, Punta Gorda). All in-person attendees should follow Centers for Disease Control safety measures. Guidelines include social distancing and the wearing of masks. Participants who are not feeling well should utilize a remote attendance option. Participate online using an electronic device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Please note that the online platform, GoToWebinar, does not currently support Internet Explorer. Participate over the phone by requesting the presentation slides at least seven (7) days in advance of the event. Dial 1-877-309-2071 and code 218-467-887 upon the start of the event. This will enable over-the-phone attendees to review the slides while listening to the presentation. Participate after the event by viewing a recording of the public hearing presentation and public comments, and project exhibits. A recording will be available on the project website (www.swflroads.com/us41/paynetoriovilla) under “Documents and Publications.” Advance registration allows the project team to anticipate social distancing needs. It is also an opportunity to discuss participation options and concerns.
