PURPOSE:

The purpose of this rule development notice is to address the possible creation of a new rule chapter for Atlantic croaker, as the Commission is considering development of species-specific regulations.  The effect of the new rule chapter would be to establish regulations in state waters from the Florida-Georgia border through Miami-Dade County for the management of Atlantic croaker that may include a recreational daily bag limit and a commercial vessel limit to aid in conservation of Atlantic croaker along the U.S. Atlantic coast.

SUBJECT:

Subject areas addressed in the rule development notice include a recreational bag limit and a commercial vessel limit for Atlantic croaker harvested in state waters from the Florida-Georgia border through Miami-Dade County.
