	The Florida Department of Transportation District One announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Thursday, August 19, 2021. The hearing will begin with an open house at 5:30pm and a formal presentation at 6pm, followed by a formal public comment period.

PLACE:	Online via GoToWebinar or in person at the Estero Recreation Center.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation District One invites the public to a hearing on Thursday, August 19, 2021. The Public Hearing is about proposed safety improvements on US 41 (S. Tamiami Trail) in Fort Myers, Lee County (Financial Project Identification Number 444640-1). The project limits begin south of Hickory Drive and continue north to Emerson Square Boulevard. The hearing will present information and collect input on the project design. This Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (RRR) project will resurface the roadway and enhance bicyclist and pedestrian safety and mobility. Existing signalized intersections will be upgraded to include pedestrian lighting and pedestrian features to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. The design also provides accommodations for bicyclists with the addition of wider shoulders and bicycle facilities at existing right turn lanes. Access management changes are proposed to increase vehicular safety along the corridor. Proposed changes include converting the two-way directional median opening at San Carlos Boulevard to a signalized intersection and converting the full median openings at Hickory Drive and at Emerson Square Boulevard to two-way directional openings. A 5:30 p.m. Open House will allow in-person attendees to view project exhibits and speak with FDOT staff. Remote attendees may view project exhibits on the www.swflroads.com/us41/hickorytoemersonsquare webpage and may log into GoToWebinar or dial into the meeting audio. A formal presentation will begin promptly at 6 p.m. for all attendees, followed by a formal public comment period. Participate in person at the Estero Recreation Center, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Boulevard, Estero, Florida, 33928. All in-person attendees should follow Centers for Disease Control safety measures. Participate online using an electronic device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Participate over the phone by requesting the presentation slides at least seven (7) days in advance of the event. Dial 1-877-309-2074 and code 204-115-059 upon the start of the event. This will enable over-the-phone attendees to review the slides while listening to the presentation. Participate after the event by viewing a recording of the public hearing presentation and public comments, and project exhibits. A recording will be available on the project website (www.swflroads.com/us41/hickorytoemersonsquare) under “Documents and Publications.” Advance registration allows the project team to anticipate social distancing needs. It is also an opportunity to discuss participation options and concerns.
