Overview



	The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

PLACE:	Immokalee Public Library 417 North First Street Immokalee, Florida 34142

Subject:	The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) is seeking an eligible entity to administer the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) in Collier County. Pursuant to a notice in the June 17, 2021, edition of the Florida Administrative Register (FAR) regarding entities interested in becoming the CSBG provider for Collier County, two letters of interest were received. The purpose of this public meeting is to offer these interested entities an opportunity to present their qualifications and proposals for providing services in the community. The two agencies are: - Agricultural and Labor Program, Inc. - Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organizations, Inc. In order to be designated as the eligible entity for Collier County, an entity must agree to ensure adequate board representation in compliance with 42 U.S.C. 9909 and 9910. Special consideration will be given to an organization with demonstrated effectiveness in providing a broad range of services designed to eliminate poverty and foster self-sufficiency. Priority will be given to existing CSBG providers in good standing with DEO that are providing related services in the specified county, or in areas contiguous to or within reasonable proximity to the specified county. Selection will also be based on the entity’s experience and performance in related federal or state programs that assist low-income individuals and families in the area to be served and the entity's capacity to undertake a timely and effective program. The following qualities will be reviewed: (1) the extent to which the entity previously achieved or is currently achieving goals in a timely fashion; (2) the quality of work performed by the entity; (3) the number, qualifications, and experience of the staff members of the entity; and (4) the entity’s demonstrated ability to maintain compliance with administrative and financial management requirements. ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN: After this meeting, DEO will consider comments made at the meeting and the submitted qualification packages. A DEO committee will evaluate the applications and submit their recommendation to DEO’s Secretary for consideration.
