6A-10.081

Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession in Florida

PURPOSE:

To provide ethical guidelines for Florida Educators to practice and be held accountable for, if there is a violation of the principles. The Commissioner may pursue disciplinary action against the license of an educator who violates the principles.

SUMMARY:

The amendment prohibits educators from discouraging or prohibiting parental notification of and their involvement in critical decisions affecting their student’s mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being unless the educator reasonably believes that disclosure would result in abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
