68A-17.004

General Regulations Relating to Wildlife and Environmental Areas

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the proposed rule amendment is to revise hunting regulations regarding shooting hours and methods of take on Wildlife and Environmental Areas (WEAs). The effect of the proposed rule amendment will be to allow non-protected birds to be hunted with dogs and expand shooting hours during mourning and white-winged dove season.

SUMMARY:

The proposed rule amendment would adjust current regulations on WMAs by allowing dogs to be used for hunting non-protected birds during any period when at least one species of small game is legal to take with dogs and extending the shooting hours for mourning and white-winged doves from one-half hour before sunrise until sunset during Phase I of the statewide mourning and white-winged dove season, unless otherwise provided by area-specific regulations.
