Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation District One announces a workshop to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	In-person 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23

PLACE:	Donald Bronson Community Center, 124 Bronson Trail, Polk City, FL 33868

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, in partnership with the City of Polk City, Polk County, Polk Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), and the Central Florida Planning Council (CFRPC), is holding a community workshop to discuss the Polk City Vision Plan in Polk County, Florida. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Donald Bronson Community Center, 124 Bronson Trail, Polk City, FL 33868. The workshop will utilize a small group discussion format; a presentation will be made that covers an orientation and overview of the process. The presentation will be followed by two sessions of small group discussions covering issues and opportunities, then followed by discussions to brainstorm potential project concepts and strategies. The purpose of this project is to support FDOT and the City of Polk City to update the Polk City Vision Plan (2014) by developing a Corridor Vision and Action Plan. The plan will consist of maps, narrative, imagery, and foundational principles created through perspectives gained through engagement with the project stakeholders about the issues, opportunities, and desires for the area. The study will focus on the following four corridors: State Road (S.R.) 33 from Mt. Olive Road to Citrus Grove Boulevard, S.R. 559 from I-4 to S.R. 33, County Road (C.R.) 655 from Mt. Olive Road to S.R. 33, and Mt. Olive Road from S.R. 33 to C.R. 655. For additional information about the project, please visit the project’s website at www.whatsnextpolkcity.com. The Florida Department of Transportation may adopt this planning product into the environmental review process, pursuant to Title 23 U.S.C. § 168(d)(4), or to the state project development process.
