Special Magistrate for Teacher Empowerment

PURPOSE:

To establish a process for a teacher to request the appointment of a Special Magistrate if he or she has been directed by his or her school district or school to violate a general law or State Board of Education rule.

SUMMARY:

A teacher may request the commissioner to appoint a Special Magistrate to address a teacher’s dispute stemming from the teacher being directed by the school or district to violate general law or State Board of Education rule. The rule aligns with the requirements of HB 1035 of the 2023 Legislative session.
