Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation, District One announces a workshop to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	In person: Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 6 p.m. Virtual: Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 6 p.m.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is currently designing improvements to State Road (SR) 33 in Polk County. The proposed improvements to the segment of SR 33 from Old Combee Road to south of University Boulevard include the addition of two through lanes (one lane in each direction) resulting in two 11-foot travel lanes in each direction separated by a 22-foot median. A traffic noise evaluation has determined that a noise barrier is a potentially cost reasonable and feasible measure to reduce traffic noise at residences near SR 33. Therefore, as part of the project, FDOT is considering construction of a noise barrier along SR 33. FDOT will hold an informational public workshop on July 20, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the City of Lakeland’s Coleman-Bush Building, located at 1104 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33805, approximately four miles southwest of the project location. This meeting will specifically be designed for those residents and property owners that are most affected by traffic noise and in close proximity to the potential noise barrier. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m. followed by the opportunity to ask questions regarding the proposed noise barrier. You are invited to come to this workshop, learn more about the proposed noise barrier, meet with project staff, and ask questions about the project. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022 and executed by FHWA and FDOT.
