6A-1.0020

Florida Safe Schools Canine Program

PURPOSE:

To set forth requirements relating to the Florida Safe Schools Canine Program whereby a person, school, or business entity can be designated as a Florida Safe Schools Canine Partner by providing a monetary or in-kind donation to a law enforcement agency to purchase, train, or care for a firearm detection canine.

SUMMARY:

This new rule implements 2023 the newly-created s. 1006.121, F.S., which requires the Department of Education’s Office of Safe Schools to establish the Florida Safe Schools Canine Program to include the development of a process, application and nomination forms, a partner logo and a program website.
