Teacher Apprenticeship Program

PURPOSE:

To create a new rule that will support the implementation of Section 1012.555, F.S., Teacher Apprenticeship Program. Section 1012.555, F.S., was established through HB 1035 in the 2023 legislative session. The rule describes the requirements for a school district or charter school to provide an alternative pathway to the teaching profession through an apprenticeship.

SUMMARY:

The proposed rule describes the requirements for a teacher apprentice, the apprentice’s mentor teacher, the employer of an apprentice and mentor, and the obligations of the postsecondary institution to provide instruction to an apprentice in the program.
