	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has new information concerning the S.R. 30 (U.S. 98) “Around the Mound” Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study in Okaloosa County. In-Person: Those who are unable to participate virtually may attend in-person at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center, located at 1250 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL. Pre-registration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments. The purpose of this study is to address existing and future vehicular capacity and safety issues on U.S. 98 as well the high volumes of regional and commuter traffic traveling through downtown Fort Walton Beach. The PD&E study is consistent with the recommendations of the City of Fort Walton Beach Downtown Master Plan (May 2019) and the FDOT Feasibility Study (August 2020). Two Build Alternatives have been developed and will be presented for public input: Alternative 1A (At-Grade) and Alternative 1B (Grade-Separated). A No-Build Alternative is also considered. Access Management changes will be required. Right-of-way will be required resulting in business and residential relocations. Future project phases of Right-of-Way, Design, and Construction are not yet funded in the current FDOT Five-Year Work Program. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so at the meeting or may contact the Project Manager using the information provided above. The deadline to submit official comments related to this project update is Friday, March 1, 2024. Public participation is held without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
