	The Florida Department of Transportation, District One announces a workshop to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	VIRTUAL: Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 6 p.m.; IN PERSON: Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to an alternatives public workshop for the SR 789 (Longboat Key) Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study from North Shore Road to Coquina Park Entrance in Manatee County. This study will evaluate three bridge alternatives to address the need to replace the existing Longboat Key Bridge over Longboat Pass, due to the age of the bridge and the need to improve bicycle/pedestrian accommodations, emergency evacuation, and safety. The alternatives public workshop is being conducted to present information about the preliminary alternatives and provides the opportunity for the public to express their views about the project. You can participate live online or in-person. The same materials will be displayed at both the online and in-person events. IN-PERSON OPTION: Thursday, March 14, 2024 Anytime between 5 – 7 p.m. Christ Church 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive Longboat Key, FL 34228 This will include a looping video (no formal presentation) and the project team will be available for discussion. If you are unable to attend the meeting, comments can also be provided through the project webpage (https://www.swflroads.com/project/436676-1) or by email (Patrick.Bateman@dot.state.fl.us) or mail (FDOT District One, Attn: Patrick Bateman, P.E., MS 1-40, 801 N. Broadway Ave., Bartow, FL 33830). While comments about the project are accepted at any time, they must be received or postmarked by March 25, 2024, to be included in the formal workshop record. Questions can be answered by calling the FDOT project manager Patrick Bateman, P.E. at (863) 519-2792. A summary of the workshop will be available on the webpage approximately 30 days following the close of the comment period. FDOT is sending notices to property owners, business owners, interested persons and organizations within 300 feet of the project to provide the opportunity to give comments to FDOT regarding this project (see the attached newsletter). The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022 and executed by FHWA and FDOT.
