	The Florida Department of Transportation, District One announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Thursday, March 28, 2024. The in-person public meeting (open house format) will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. The virtual meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, invites you to the State Road (SR) 72 from US 41 (SR 45) to Honore Avenue Public Meeting on Thursday, March 28, 2024. The in-person public meeting (open house format) will begin at 5:00 p.m. The virtual meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the existing roadway and improve safety along the corridor. The project consists of repaving the roadway from US 41 (SR 45) to Derek Avenue and reconstructing the existing pavement from Derek Avenue to Honore Avenue. FDOT is also proposing access management improvements from Swift Road to Sawyer Road under FPID 447887-1. This work will be constructed concurrently with the work under FPID 449122-1. The intent of the improvements is to enhance traffic flow and reduce crashes by replacing the existing center two-way left turn lane with a raised median and reducing lane widths. Additional improvements include construction of one or more mid-block pedestrian crossings with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB) between Lockwood Ridge Road and Beneva Road and striping, signal, and lighting upgrades. This public meeting is being held to present information about the proposed design and gather public input. FDOT will accept written comments during and after the meeting. Comments submitted after the meeting may be sent to Michael Rud, P.E., Florida Department of Transportation, 801 N. Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33803, or emailed to Michael.Rud@dot.state.fl.us. The Department has three ways to participate in the public meeting: by attending the live in-person event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sarasota Christian Church, 2923 Ashton Road, Sarasota, FL 34231; online through the live virtual event from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. by registering at fdot.cc/SR72_US41_HonoreAvenue; or by viewing the materials online through the project website at swflroads.com/project/449122-1. All meeting materials will be available online by March 21, 2024. A copy of these materials will also be displayed at the in-person event. You may choose any combination of the options provided to review the materials and to submit your comments. For more information on all options to attend the upcoming public meeting, visit the project website or contact the project representative (listed below). FDOT is sending notices to all property owners and tenants within at least 300 feet on either side of the project and to public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations, and individuals interested in the project. FDOT encourages all interested people to attend and express their views regarding the project and information presented. While comments about the project are accepted at any time, please send your comments by April 8, 2024, to be included in the formal public meeting record. This meeting has been developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.
