Overview

RULE:

5M-21.001	Approved Best Management Practices
5M-21.002	Notice of Intent to Implement Best Management Practices

PURPOSE:

The purpose is to create a new Rule Chapter 5M-21 and two new rules; 5M-21.001, Approved Best Management Practices, and 5M-21.002, Notice of Intent to Implement Best Management Practices, and to adopt by reference a manual titled Florida Small Farms and Specialty Livestock Operations, 2024 Edition: Water Quality and Water Quantity Best Management Practices (FDACS-P-02223). These new rules and material incorporated by reference will enable FDACS to provide the option for those currently unserved landowners and producers to meet the requirements of s. 403.067(7)(c), F.S., by enrolling in and implementing FDACS Best Management Practices.

SUMMARY:

The subject areas of the proposed rules are water quality and water conservation best management practices for Florida Small Farms and Specialty Livestock production, including enrollment in the program and implementation verification site visit requirements. The proposed rule language describes BMP program and checklist requirements and provides guidance on implementing the practices.
