5N-1.150

Services on Behalf of the Department by Appointed Tax Collector

PURPOSE:

the purpose of this rule is to establish the types of services appointed tax collector offices may offer on behalf of the department to the industry regulated under chapter 493 Florida Statutes. The effect will be clarity in regard to the services a tax collectors may offer, and that regulated industry may seek at an approved tax collector office.

SUMMARY:

Chapter 2024-137 L.O.F. adopted new section 493.6127, F.S. titled “Appointment of Tax Collectors to Accept Applications and Renewals for Licenses; fees; penalties.” In accordance with the new statute, the department must establish by rule the type of new, renewal or replacement licenses a tax collector appointed under this section is authorized to accept. Appointed tax collectors may also provide photo and fingerprint services. The types of services offered by an appointed tax collector office will be limited to the supporting software developed by the department at the time of this rulemaking.
