	The Groundwork Jacksonville announces the Emerald Trail Community Kickoff Even announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.

PLACE:	Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) - Advanced Technology Center, Rooms T140/141, 401 W. State Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202

Subject:	Groundwork Jacksonville (GW Jax), the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) and the City of Jacksonville (COJ) will be hosting a community kickoff meeting to discuss the Emerald Trail system. The meeting will specifically focus on the proposed trail route segments 4, 6, 7 and 8, providing this notable Jacksonville urban hub with approximately 12.5 miles of new trails to the Existing Trail network. The Emerald Trail Project Development & Environmental (PD&E) Study is an inclusive evaluation process that encourages citizen and stakeholders’ participation. During the study, Groundwork Jax, JTA and COJ will conduct a community kickoff event where attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the proposed trail routes through the community and ask questions of the planning team from GW Jax, JTA and COJ. Additionally, the community will be able to share their thoughts about potential trail alignments and what the trail will mean to them. The primary focus of the meeting will be to empower residents to be part of the planning and design phase of the four proposed segments. The in-person community kickoff meeting will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12 p.m. with a brief presentation and lunch beginning at noon followed by questions and comments from the public. GW Jax, JTA and COJ staff and consultant staff members will be available to discuss the project and accept public comments. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
