	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a hybrid public hearing concerning the State Road (S.R.) 292 (Sorrento Road) PD&E Study in Escambia County on Thursday, October 23, 2025. 5:30 p.m. Open House 6 p.m. Formal Presentation, Comment Period Virtual (Online): Access via computer, tablet, or smartphone. In-Person: Those who are unable to participate virtually may attend in-person at The Point Church – Fellowship Hall, 13801 Innerarity Point Road, Pensacola. Pre-registration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments. FDOT is conducting a PD&E Study to evaluate the widening of S.R. 292 (Sorrento Road) from Innerarity Point Road to S.R. 173 (Blue Angel Parkway) in Escambia County to enhance safety, add capacity, and improve mobility. These improvements consist of widening S.R. 292 (Sorrento Road) from two to four lanes with curb and gutter, sidewalk, and a shared-use path for pedestrians and bicycles. The total distance of this study is 5.6 miles. Design, right of way, and construction are currently not funded in FDOT’s current five-year work program. Maps, drawings, and other information is available for review online beginning 12 p.m. (CDT), Thursday, September 25, 2025, at www.nwflroads.com/calendar and on location from Thursday, September 25, 2025, through Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Southwest Library located at 12248 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (CDT), and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (CDT). Project materials will also be available at the in-person hearing. The materials may also be viewed by contacting the Project Manager. As part of the project development process and in accordance with Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966, FDOT has identified the Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park and Baars Athletic Field as Section 4(f) protected properties, and is seeking comments from the public concerning the potential effects on the activities, features, and attributes that may result from the proposed widening of S.R. 292 (Sorrento Road). Following the public comment period, and in consideration of any input received, FDOT intends to pursue a de minimis impact determination on the resources. Persons wishing to submit written or verbal comments may do so at the hearing or may contact the Project Manager using the information provided above. All statements provided or postmarked on or before Sunday, November 2, 2025, will become a part of the official project record. Public participation is held without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for these projects are being, or have been, carried out by the FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
