PURPOSE:

61A-8.001 The provisions of this new proposed rule are intended to prevent violent crimes and thereby protect employees and the consumer public at late-night convenience businesses; and for security standards for late-night convenience businesses to be uniform throughout this state.

61A-8.002  The new rule is proposed to provide a robbery deterrence and safety training framework for businesses covered by the Convenience Business Security Act.

61A-8.003  The proposed new rule is to provide for the handling of violations of the Convenience Business Security Act.

SUBJECT:

61A-8.001  This proposed new rule is designed to provide safety and security requirements for convenience stores, pursuant to the Convenience Business Security Act as set forth in section 812.1701, Florida Statutes, et seq.

61A-8.002  This proposed new rule describes the training curriculum for robbery deterrence and safety training that each convenience business must provide to its employees, in accordance with section 812.174, Florida Statutes.

61A-8.003  The new rule is proposed to provide for enforcement of the Convenience Business Security Act via notices of violation and as appropriate, the imposition of civil fines.
