Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation, District 1 announces a hearing to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Tuesday, December 2, 2025; VIRTUAL start at 5 p.m., IN PERSON starts at 4:30 p.m.

PLACE:	100 N Museum Ave, Avon Park, FL 33825

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), invites you to a public hearing for the jurisdictional transfer of a segment of State Road S.R. 17 in Avon Park, Florida. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with information regarding the jurisdictional transfer. This includes transfer of ownership of a small segment of the roadway from FDOT to the City of Avon Park. It also provides the opportunity for the public to offer feedback about the transfer for the official hearing record. You can participate live online or in-person. The information presented during either format will be the same and all attendees will have opportunity to comment. Participate in the December 2, 2025, public hearing: In-Person Option: at Avon Park Public Library, 100 N Museum Ave, Avon Park, FL 33825 Anytime between 4:30 – 5 p.m. Open house 5 p.m. Formal presentation Attendees can review project displays and speak with the project team one-on-one. 5:15 p.m. Intermission Attendees arriving after 5 p.m. can review the transfer information and discuss with the project team. 5:30 p.m. Verbal Comment Taken Attendees have the opportunity to make a verbal comment for the court reporter to include in the official hearing record. 6 p.m. Verbal testimony (and public hearing) concludes Live Online Option: December 2, 2025 Register in advance: https://www.swflroads.com/project/333333-1 5 p.m. Formal presentation 5:30 p.m. Verbal Comment Taken If you are unable to attend the hearing, comments can also be provided by email (kyle.purvis@dot.state.fl.us) or mail (FDOT District One, Attn: Kyle Purvis, 801 N. Broadway Ave., Bartow, FL 33830). While comments about the project are accepted at any time, they must be received or postmarked by December 12, 2025, to be included in the formal hearing record.
