PURPOSE:

Amendments to Chapter 62-6, F.A.C., are being considered to ensure proper regulation of an Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System (OSTDS) in Florida. The amendments are proposed to address statutory changes, to improve regulatory efficiency and to simplify and clarify the rules. This rule development addresses requirements for permit application processing, installation and location of an OSTDS, abandonment of an OSTDS, construction materials, standards for tanks, registration of a septic tank or a master septic tank contractor, renewal of registration certificates, disciplinary standards and penalties for registered persons, certification of partnerships and corporations, and fees related to OSTDS regulations.

SUBJECT:

The Division of Water Resource Management is proposing amendments to Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 62-6, F.A.C., entitled Standards for Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems.
