Middle School and High School Start Times

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this new rule is to prescribe the format of a report due to the Department by school districts and charter school governing boards that wish to be deemed in compliance with middle school and high school start times. The effect will be that school districts and charter school governing boards will be deemed in compliance and have flexibility to set school start times.

SUMMARY:

This new rule will prescribe the format of a report due to the Department June 1, 2026, by school districts and charter school governing boards that wish to be deemed in compliance with middle school and high school start times per section 1001.42(4), F.S.
