Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	The Virtual Project Update begins January 9, 2026, and ends January 30, 2026.

PLACE:	Online at www.fdotd7studies.com/projects/us41-kracker-to-sr676/. This is virtual-only event, no in-person meeting will be held.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven, is conducting a Virtual Project Update (VPU) to present information and gather feedback concerning the U.S. 41 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study from Kracker Avenue to south of S.R. 676 (WPI No. 430056-1 and ETDM No. 5180) in Hillsborough County. This is virtual-only event, no in-person meeting will be held. The FDOT conducted the PD&E study to evaluate the potential social, economic, and environmental effects of widening U.S. 41, and a State Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) was prepared and approved by the FDOT on January 12, 2017. The FDOT is now pursuing federal eligibility for this project since approval of the SEIR. This resulted in updated and additional analyses, as well as the preparation of a Type 2 Categorical Exclusion (CE). The proposed improvements include widening U.S. 41 from four to six lanes and replacing the bridges over Bullfrog Creek and the Alafia River. Additional improvements include various intersection improvements, the installation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and the construction of new offsite stormwater management and floodplain compensation sites. The No-Build Alternative, which leaves U.S. 41 in its present state and provides for only routine maintenance, will remain an option throughout the study.
