Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a workshop to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	The Alternatives Public Workshop will be held virtually and in-person on separate days. The virtual workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. The in-person workshop will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., as an open house format. The same information will be presented at both the Virtual and In-Person Alternatives Public Workshop, so attending both is not necessary.

In-Person: The Alternatives Public Workshop will be held at the 10th Street Community Center located at 724 SE 10th Street, Stuart, Florida 34994.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold an Alternatives Public Workshop virtually and in-person for the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study from State Road (S.R.) 714/Monterey Road at Florida East Coast (FEC) Railroad Crossing. The project identification number is 441636-2-22-02. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic operations, establish more efficient road system connectivity, provide enhanced emergency evacuation, and improve sidewalk and bike lane network. This project, which originated based on community priority and a recognized safety need, strengthens the local community by making it easier and safer for people to drive, walk, and bike within the project area, while supporting operations for the FEC Railroad and Witham Field Airport. By improving road and rail infrastructure, resiliency, and improving emergency evacuation routes, the project will help the community stay connected and protected. Participants are requested to register in advance for the virtual experience. Comments can be provided during the event or through the project webpage https://www.fdot.gov/projects/montereyrd-fec-study. They will also be available on the project website. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project, are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FDOT. For the in-person workshop, doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for all attendees. Staff will be available to answer questions and to provide assistance. Comments and questions will be answered in the order received. If your question is not answered during the event, a response will be provided in writing following the workshop. Questions and comments may also be submitted prior to the workshop by emailing the Project Manager. FDOT is sending notices to all property owners and tenants within at least 500 feet on either side of the project and to other public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations, and individuals interested in the project. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. All exhibits presented at the Alternatives Public Workshop can be viewed electronically on the project website https://www.fdot.gov/projects/montereyrd-fec-study.
