PURPOSE:

To clarify existing requirements for risk assessment, emergency care, consultation, referral and transfer and update forms as part of implementation of changes to Chapter 467. Additionally, the revisions will clarify informed consent requirements prior to offering midwifery services and update forms; to clarify existing requirements for planned out-of-hospital births occurring at home, responsibilities of midwives during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods; to clarify collaborative management requirements for prenatal and postpartum care and update forms; to align rule language with existing statutory requirements for administration of medicinal and prescription drugs; to clarify financial responsibility requirements for midwives to carry malpractice insurance and align rule language with statutory language.
