PURPOSE:

The rule amendments will update standards adopted by reference, update existing exemption forms and add one new exemption form, update the operational requirements and sanitation and safety criteria in public swimming pools and bathing places in Florida, address artificial lagoons and surf pools, and update provisions related to fees, variances, and enforcement.

SUBJECT:

The rule development will update references to, and bring portions of these rules into alignment with, the current Florida Building Code. The changes will also update existing forms and add one exemption form, revise operational requirements including update to test kit accuracy level requirements and other adopted standards, update referenced standards for lifeguard, school training, and first aid courses, as well as updates to NSF and other incorporated standards. This rule development will address artificial lagoons and surf pools, update and clarify requirements regarding marine beaches, sampling frequency, fecal indicator standards, and responsibilities and communication requirements. The rule will also address changes to the variance application, process, and fee. The enforcement rule will be updated to reflect recent changes to other portions of the rule chapter.
