	The Florida Department of Transportation, District One announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The in-person public meeting (open house format) will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. The virtual meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m.

Subject:	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, invites you to the State Road (S.R.) 776 from Merchants Crossing to the Sarasota County Line Public Meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The in-person public meeting (open house format) will begin at 5:00 p.m. The virtual meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. FDOT, District One, is proposing improvements along S.R. 776 in Charlotte County. The purpose of the improvements is to improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce crashes. The proposed improvements will improve access control through the construction of raised traffic separators, a protected bike lane, and raised medians at designated locations throughout the corridor. This public meeting is being held to present information about the proposed design and gather public input. FDOT will accept written comments during and after the meeting. Comments submitted after the meeting may be sent to Ulises Valles, Florida Department of Transportation, 801 N. Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33830, or emailed to Ulises.Valles@dot.state.fl.us. The Department has three ways to participate in the public meeting: by attending the live in-person event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Elsie Quirk Library, 100 W. Dearborn Street, Englewood, FL 34223; online through the live virtual event from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. by registering at fdot.cc/SR-776-VPM; or by viewing the materials online through the project website at swflroads.com/project/449652-1. The same information will be presented at both the live in-person and online meetings. All meeting materials will be available online by May 13, 2026. A copy of these materials will also be displayed at the in-person event. You may choose any combination of the options provided to review the materials and to submit your comments. For more information on all options to attend the upcoming public meeting, visit the project website or contact the project representative (listed below). FDOT is sending notices to all property owners and tenants within at least 300 feet on either side of the project and to public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations, and individuals interested in the project. FDOT encourages all interested people to attend and express their views regarding the project and information presented. While comments about the project are accepted at any time, please send your comments by June 1, 2026, to be included in the formal public meeting record. This meeting has been developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.
