Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	Monday, May 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

PLACE:	The Construction Open House will be held virtually and in-person. The Virtual Public Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please use the following link to register: https://tinyurl.com/vpm-sunriseblvd. A brief presentation, followed by questions and comments from the public, will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and again from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Questions and comments may be submitted via the online chat or with the raise hand feature for the project team to address directly. The In-Person Open House is scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at ArtServe at 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304, and will have an informal open house format. FDOT staff and consultant staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Subject:	Financial Management No.: 441456-1-52-01 & 446181-1-52-01 Project Description: State Road (S.R.) 838/Sunrise Boulevard Roadway and Bridge Rehabilitation Project in the City of Fort Lauderdale. Project improvements along S.R. 838/Sunrise Boulevard include: replacing the bridge deck with a new solid surface aluminum deck and painting the structural steel; replacing mechanical and electrical bridge components; replacing the existing navigation/marine fenders in the waterway; replacing the reinforced support walls on the south side of the bridge to improve resiliency; renovating the bridge tender house; milling and resurfacing the roadway to ensure long-term resiliency; upgrading existing street light poles with LED fixtures throughout the project corridor to enhance nighttime visibility and pedestrian safety; upgrading curb ramps, signing, and pavement markings to enhance visibility and accessibility. Construction will begin in June 2026 and is estimated to be completed in Early 2028. The cost is $43.2 million.
