PURPOSE:

The purpose of this rule amendment is to shift the slot limit for snook by adding one inch to both the minimum and maximum size limit.  The effect of this rule would be to adjust the slot limit of snook to assure that the soon-to-be-implemented measurement clarification for the species does not negatively impact stock abundance.

SUMMARY:

The size limit for snook in subsection (1) of Rule 68B-21.005, F.A.C. will be increased by 1 inch at both ends of the slot, resulting in a slot of 27 to 35 inches in order to compensate for any deleterious effects of the soon-to-be-implemented measurement clarification on snook stocks.
