Florida Educator's Certificates with Academic, Administrative, Degreed Career and Technical, and Specialty Class Coverages

PURPOSE:

To update the requirements to obtain a temporary teacher apprenticeship certificate. Additionally, amendments will clarify eligibility to serve as teacher of record for individuals who hold a temporary teacher apprenticeship certificate. Furthermore, the amendments will clarify exemptions from educator certification requirements for individuals seeking employment as school counselors. The amendments will also outline temporary certificate issuance procedures for applicants with expired professional certificates pursuant to amendments made by HB 561 (2026) to s. 1012.56, F.S.

SUMMARY:

The proposed amendments will align and clarify requirements for special temporary certificates, specialized professional certificates, and temporary certificates for educators with expired professional certificates.
