Required Instruction Planning and Reporting

PURPOSE:

To update required instruction to include History of Communism from Senate Bill (SB) 1264 (2024) and cursive writing from Senate Bill (SB) 182 (2026). Both items will take effect in the 2026-2027 school year.

SUMMARY:

Both Senate Bill 1264 (2024) and Senate Bill 182 (2026) update s. 1003.42, F.S., to include the History of Communism and cursive writing, respectively, as part of required instruction. The proposed update to Rule 6A-1.094124, F.A.C., includes the addition of both History of Communism and cursive writing to the reporting requirements for districts.
