PURPOSE:

The proposed rules update incorporated National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) national standards and department forms, update references to incorporated material, amend qualifier competency requirements and the testing timeframe, provide disclosure requirements related to consumer safety, provide a definition, and update the penalty rules.

SUMMARY:

The proposed rules incorporate the most recent NFPA national standards, update form and standard references, incorporate updated department forms, reflect changes in qualifier competency requirements and testing timeframe, add a definition of “working day”, and update the penalty rules. These amendments ensure most current national standards are adopted and that registration applications, qualifier eligibility requirements, testing timeframe, added consumer protection, and penalty rules implement recent statutory changes by chapter 2024-170, Laws of Florida.  The amendments will streamline the overall application process and will be statutorily compliant with Chapter 527, Florida Statutes.
