Inmate Substance Abuse Testing

PURPOSE:

Rule amendment is necessary to clarify that for-cause or reasonable suspicion testing may be conducted using a Department approved multi-panel device; to revise the guidelines for for-cause or reasonable suspicion testing to include possession of diuretic drugs without a valid prescription; to remove the provision that a female inmate shall not be required to provide a urine specimen during menstrual cycle; and to remove Forms DC6-2066 and DC6-2067.

SUMMARY:

The proposed amendment revises certain drug testing procedures and practices regarding inmates in the custody of the Department.
