Qualifications for Examination

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the rule amendment is to delete completion of English as a Second Language as a method to demonstrate competency because completion of that course has not been demonstrated to result in sufficient competency for safe nursing practice.  In addition, the Board is adding language requiring that courses completed to establish the required education be passed with a score approved as passing at the institution at which each course was taken.

SUMMARY:

The existing language of the rule is revised to delete completion of English as a Second Language as a method to demonstrate competency because completion of that course has not been demonstrated to result in sufficient competency for safe nursing practice.  In addition, language has been added requiring that courses completed to establish the required education be passed with a score approved as passing at the institution at which each course was taken.
