Coordinated Screening and Progress Monitoring System and Statewide, Standardized Assessment Program Requirements

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this rule amendment is to add the science grade-level scale scores for each achievement level as part of the student achievement testing program known as the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). The effect will be to permit student academic performance in science to be reported in achievement levels, providing a better understanding of individual student strengths or needs, as well as summaries of performance for use in educational accountability.

SUMMARY:

This rule is amended to specify score ranges that define five achievement levels for the science portion of the FCAT for grades 5, 8, and 11.
