PURPOSE:

To require more energy efficient construction in Florida effective October 1, 2008, by amending the Florida Energy Efficiency Code for Building Construction.

SUMMARY:

The reference document will require more energy efficient construction in Florida. As applied to commercial construction, the Energy Efficiency Code is amended to be consistent with ANSI/ASHRAE 90.1 – 2007, Energy Efficient Design of New Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guide for Small Office Buildings, ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guide for Small Retail Buildings and ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guide for K-12 School Buildings. As applied to residential construction, the performance method of compliance provided in the Code is amended to reflect a passing score of 85 rather than 100. The prescriptive means of compliance for residential compliance remains unchanged from current requirements.
