PURPOSE:

The rule was amended effective May 18, 2008, to update the Florida Fire Prevention Code (“Code”) as required by Section 633.0215(1), Florida Statutes, by adopting current National Association of Fire Protection Standards. The Code is updated once every three years, along with the Florida Building Code. The Florida Building Commission recently voted to extend the effective date of the new Florida Building Code to December 31, 2008; therefore, the Department is extending the effective date of the updated Code to the same date for consistency.

SUMMARY:

The proposed amendment changes the effective date of the rule from May 18, 2008 to December 31, 2008 to conform to the new effective date of the updated Florida Building Code.
