Overview



	The Florida Department of Transportation, District 2 announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

DATE AND TIME:	July 22, 2009, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

PLACE:	Florida Department of Transportation, District 2 Office, 1109 S. Marion Avenue, Lake City, Florida 32025

Subject:	The Department of Transportation has received authorization from the Federal Highway Administration to conduct a public meeting to discuss the concept of a Pilot Project on Interstate 75 between the beginning of the Florida Turnpike at Wildwood to the Georgia State Line. The pilot project is intended to result in a general reduction in the number of non-conforming outdoor advertising billboards in the sensitive scenic areas on the corridor. The pilot project will also test a potential change in Federal regulations which currently prohibit modifications to a non-conforming sign. Under the pilot the Department will allow one-time modifications to non-conforming signs in lesser impacted areas when signs are removed from the more sensitive areas. It is anticipated that this pilot will result in a corridor with a much improved visual character, making it more attractive to motorists.
