PURPOSE:

The purpose of these rule amendments is for Florida to extend management of the stone crab fishery to adjacent federal waters in the absence of federal regulation. The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is in the process of repealing its federal Fishery Management Plan and the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council has no plan for stone crab in Atlantic federal waters.

SUBJECT:

Subject areas to be addressed in the rule development notice include the extension of current state regulations into adjacent federal waters and the removal of reference to a federal form that will no longer be required after the federal Fishery Management Plan is repealed.
