PURPOSE:

The purpose and effect of this rule development effort is to align this chapter’s rules with recent changes to Section 379.372, F.S., by adding new species to the Prohibited species list, creating new definitions, establishing permitting criteria, providing biosecurity and caging requirements, and clarifying the rules related to the Commission’s Exotic Pet Amnesty Program. This effort will improve clarity and conciseness and aid in addressing emerging invasive species issues.

SUBJECT:

Subject area covered in the proposed rules includes the regulation of nonnative species.
