Hunting Regulations for Non-Migratory Game and Issuance of Antlerless Deer Permits and Private Lands Deer Management Permits

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the proposed rule amendment is to revise hunting regulations for antlerless deer and wild turkey on lands outside the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) system. The effect of the proposed rule amendment will be to provide increased hunting opportunities for antlerless deer and wild turkey.

SUMMARY:

The proposed rule amendment would update current rule language as follows:

Antlerless deer bag limits – change the seasonal bag limit in DMU D2 to allow for the take of up to 3 antlerless deer as part of the 5 deer seasonal limit.

Antlerless deer season dates – establish additional antlerless deer hunting days in Deer Management Unit (DMU) B1, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, D1, and D2.

Youth turkey hunt extension – expand the youth spring turkey hunt on lands outside the WMA System from 2 days (Saturday through Sunday) to 4 days (Friday through Monday).

Additionally, the proposed rule amendment also makes non-substantive, technical corrections.
