Inmate Death Notification Process

PURPOSE:

Provisions for the notification of the death of an inmate while in the custody of the Department.

SUMMARY:

The proposed amendment reconciles the current rule with the recent amendment of section 406.12, Florida Statutes, which authorizes reporting an inmate death to a law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the location as an alternative to reporting the death to the district medical examiner.
